Fields of Action

The enhancement of the cultural heritage, the preservation of historical memory, the safeguarding of the cultural environment as well as the promotion of the Greek civilization, are among AMMF’s main fields of action. Projects and actions towards safeguarding the cultural identity, such as the restoration of a monument, the support of archaeological excavations, the foundation of museums, libraries and cultural institutions, the funding of publications, fall under this category.

Greece has a rich religious history and a great number of Greek-Orthodox monuments that are part of its cultural heritage. The construction, renovation or preservation of churches and religious monuments are some of the key areas of action of the Foundation. In this field, the AMMF also supports traditional celebrations and religious cultural expressions that are part of the Greek intangible heritage and play a significant role in the preservation of our national identity.

Being the cornerstone of socio-economic and cultural development, public education is one of the AMMF’s top priorities. In this context, the foundation takes initiatives with a view to support equal access to quality education. Through its donations, the foundation contributes to the maintenance, renovation or even construction of school units and improves the quality of teaching materials. At the same time, AMMF encourages creative educational programs that promote intercultural cooperation and strengthen the bonds with educational organizations around the world.

Health and the right to access preliminary medical services is a supreme human right that must be safeguarded and guaranteed to all citizens. In the field of public health care, the AMMF focuses on the implementation of infrastructure projects that upgrade the health services offered by public hospitals. The Foundation renovates health centers, modernizes hospital units and donates specialized medical equipment.

Being well aware of the value and benefits of physical exercise, AMMF supports the construction or renovation of sport facilities and enhances the infrastructures of nonprofit societies or clubs. In addition, the Foundation provides financial support to sport events and programs, with a view to promoting the athletic ideal and the sense of fair play.

The AMMF supports scientific research by funding programs or studies that aim to promote the social safety and prosperity. In the health sector in particular, the foundation provides financial support to Institutions and public organizations, in order to conduct medical research. The AMMF also supports programs that promote sustainable development and scientific knowledge in various sectors of the social and cultural sphere.

Offering to the society is one of the Foundation’s primary goals. By financing projects of social nature, the AMMF strives to ameliorate people’s way of living, to bring relief to social suffering and to strengthen the Greek economy within and beyond its boundaries.
