‘Blue Star’ Sports Club, Vari

The ‘Kyanos Astir’ (= Blue Star) was founded on 21 May 1964. At first the association was inert. The youth of the time exercised on a vacant lot that had been formed as a football pitch, the plot on which the schools of Vari now stand. There they were discovered in 1966 by Ioannis Katsikis and Panagiotis Antoniou, who essentially set the association in motion. In 1984 the sportsground was constructed at the edge of the present organized plage on the Varkiza seashore and was in use since 1989. The team competed there until 2004, when it moved to today’s Municipal Stadium of Vari.
