The Syros Nautical Club was founded in 1893 and is one of the most historical yachting-sailing associations in the world (it was the second rowing association established in Greece). Today the Club includes sectors of triangle sailing, open-sea sailing, sea swimming, water polo, underwater activity, speedboats, canoes-kayaks, and amateur coastal fishing. From its ranks have emerged excellent oarsmen, sailing craft competitors with victories worldwide, swimmers and water polo players with panhellenic distinctions. The tradition of successes continues. The Syros Nautical Club has 417 male and 126 female athletes.
