Thriasion General Hospital Of Elefsina

In 1982, the foundation stone was laid for the General Hospital of Elefsina-Thriasio Plain, on a 1.5 hectare plot of land offered jointly by the Municipalities of Elefsina and Mandra, and the Community of Magoula. The Hospital was set up to meet the enormous healthcare needs of the local communities in a large and populous catchment area. It opened its doors in June 1996 with 400 beds. Recognizing the ever-increasing demands placed on the Thriasion, which serves most of western, as well as emergency cases from the Peloponnese, the Argosaronic islands and the Cyclades, the Non-profit Civil Company AEGEAS has made a series of donations. These are aimed at improving the Hospital’s operation and upgrading its infrastructure, which underpin the provision of medical services of the highest standards by a public medical institution.

DONATIONS OF THE NON-PROFIT CIVIL COMPANY AEGEAS

• Renovating and upgrading the Operating Theatres.
• Arranging spaces and a specially protected room for installing and operating a Digital Angiography system.
• Reconstructing the forecourt of the Psychiatric Department.
• Providing medical equipment for the Cardiology Clinic and the Coronary Care Unit, ten drug boost infusion pumps and two high flow oxygen therapy devices.
• Covering the cost of leasing a C-Arm X-ray machine.
• Providing an ISOBOX container to accommodate patients with covid-19 and other infectious conditions, and use for short-term hospitalization.
• Supplying medical equipment for the new Centre of Neuromuscular Disorders for adults, in the Latsio Burns Centre of the Hospital.

RECONSTRUCTING-UPGRADING AND EQUIPPING THE OPERATING THEATRES

The project to overhaul the operating theatres in the first storey of Hospital confronted many challenges and demands. Within a short time and at the height of the pandemic, extensive works were carried out for the radical reconstruction of the old-fashioned operating theatres and their transformation into a new surgical unit that meets all the latest specifications. The suite comprises eight operating theatres fully equipped with special electrical and mechanical installations and cutting-edge specialist medical devices. The new operating tables can be used for all routine and emergency surgical procedures.

ARRANGING THE PREMISES FOR INSTALLING THE DIGITAL ANGIOGRAPHY SYSTEM

The new Digital Angiography system, which was supplied by the Region of Attica, was installed in premises adjacent to the Hospital, after their radical renovation and arrangement. On completion of the construction works and the new specialist electrical and mechanical installations, a fully radiation-protected examination room was created, together with the necessary service spaces.

RECONSTRUCTING THE FORECOURT OF THE PSYCHIATRIC CLINIC

Aim of the Non-profit Civil Company AEGEAS donation was to create a spacious and pleasant forecourt, offering patients in the Psychiatric Clinic a space in which to relax and to socialize. The existing space was rehabilitated in accordance with a special technical study consistent with European standards. Trees and flowers were planted and a CCTV system of cameras was installed. The welcoming grounds created offer patients all preconditions for feeling safe and quiet, and in combination with their therapy can contribute to their harmonious reintegration in society.
